> creating a new service and generating an invoice for that
service
In
this example IOHost, a computer Hosting/Programming company,
is going to set up a new service called 'Calendar'. This
is a one-time service/fee for a client who wants a calendar
on their Web site, which is hosted by IOHost. The client,
ND State Fair, will also need an invoice for the service
rendered. In this example, let's pretend I work for this
company and the company is using Business Fusion to manage
business services, sales, accounting and more.
Let's
begin, the first thing IOHost needs to do is add a new service
type. To do this use the following menu sequence from the
application's main interface:
Data
Structures > Service Type > Add New Service Type

Here
I type in 'Calendar' (Figure 1 above), because IOHost does
not yet have a programming service for doing a Calendar. After
entering here, I can assign anytime to other clients, it never
has to be entered again.
The rate IOHost is charging to do a Calendar is 100.00. I
can always go back and modify if the rate changes. I type
'100.00' into the service rate box.
Under 'Rate is Applied' I only find I have 'monthly'
and 'One Month' listed. Because it is a one-time charge and
takes about a month to do, I am going to use 'one month'.
If I didn't have it in the list, I would enter this frequency
type using the 'Frequency Types' data structure. Next, I go
to assign the new service.
Client, Sales, and Service Manager > Assign Service
From
the drop menu here, I choose the client 'ND State Fair' (Figure
2). On the next screen (Figure 3), I choose 'Calendar' to
assign this service to this client.

Now I have successfully assigned a service called 'Calendar'
to a client 'ND State Fair' that is a one time service costing
100.00.
Next,
let's generate an invoice for this service
I choose 'ND State Fair' from the first screen (Figure 4).
On the next screen I choose the service I want to appear
on the invoice (Figure 5). I could choose more than one
service and have it appear on the invoice, but am only concerned
with the Calendar service, so I choose this service only.

Service Invoice > Choose Client

That's
it. I now have an invoice (Figure 6) for the Calendar job
that i'm doing for this client. The Due Date is one month
from now, because the frequency range that I specified was
30 days for the 'One Month' Frequency that was assigned to
this service. Because I did the invoice today, it bumps the
Due Date to 30 days from now. I could easily change this by
modifying the 'One Month' Frequency, and regenerating the
invoice.

SideNote
Normally
your services would be more than one month (example above).
Most of them are likely to be recurring on a monthly, or
semimonthly or even yearly basis. The above example was
chosen to demonstrate an unusual service range, to show
you that it doesn't matter what the range is. The application
will adjust to any time range. If you define a service range
like the one above, that is, one that is not recurring,
the application will show that service is terminated after
the elapsed time has been meant for the duration of the
service period. Recurring services are ongoing, thus enabled
until you manually terminate it by specifying an end date.
